In 2015, 19 of our 6th grade scholars helped design and create works of art for a future economically sustainable playground project lead by Land for Public Trust. This past Monday, October 31, these 19 scholars – now in 8th grade – represented DPEMS during the playground commencement ceremony. To their shock and awe, they were gifted pairs of New Balance running shoes from New York Road Runners (who partnered with Land for Public Trust) for all their support and hard work. The New York Road Runners gave $1 million to go into the eco-sustainable playground, including several other parks in the Bronx and Queens.
